Wisdom, Understanding, and Knowledge

Colossians 2:1-4 For I want you to know how much I struggle for you, for those in Laodicea, and for all who have never seen me face to face. Because they are united in love, I pray that their hearts may be encouraged by all the riches that come from a complete understanding of the full knowledge of the Messiah, who is the mystery of God. In Him are stored all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I say this so that no one will mislead you with nice-sounding rhetoric, For although I am physically absent, I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see how stable you are and how firm your faith in the Messiah is.

Paul was obviously passionate to keep his readers centered on the treasure that is Jesus Christ. Both knowledge and faith enrich the soul which thrives when we embrace the truth found in Him. The stronger our faith and the warmer our love, the greater our comfort will be. The treasures of wisdom are not hidden from us, but rather for us, in Jesus Christ.

“All the treasures”

All! There is no need to look elsewhere, investigating human systems and philosophies, for an illumination of the mystery of the universe and the relations of the Creator and His creations. Jesus Christ, who is all-sufficient, embodies all wisdom and knowledge.
