In Spirit and in Truth

In Spirit and in Truth

John 4:24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.

Most days, I am heavily laden with burdens from my family and surroundings.
It is sadness and grief, seemingly hopes dashed, and a bleak future where it plods on and on
the same way with no change.

I long for the Lord to speak to me, and when I don't hear Him or *can't* hear Him
I become even more discouraged and close to despair. Melancholy overtakes me, and I seem to be walking in darkness.

I have learned something of late, though. When I begged God to speak to me
or show me His glory - He said to me in a still small voice -
"Worship Me. Worship in spirit and in truth. Worship without requests, only adoration
for My attributes and My creation."

I can do that. I can get on my knees and pray:
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows His handwork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night shows knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.

Why is it important to worship?
Why do we wait until we are in despair?

And how is it that when I drop to my knees and pray
cry out, I become aware of His presence all around me.

If nothing more than praying a psalm
The heavens declare the glory of God
and the firmament shows His handiwork...
day unto day utters speech, and night unto night shows knowledge. (Psalm 19)

and then this part!
There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.

Anyone under the big blue sky hears its voice. Anyone sitting under the moon and stars hears its voice. It is the voice of God saying how merciful He is to His creation by causing the sun to rise in the morning and the moon to rise in the evening.
