Gospel Truth: The Good News

The gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ has solved the problem of sin through His death, burial, and resurrection. The word gospel means "good news." It is the good news of forgiveness through faith in Jesus Christ.
The gospel message does not center on a philosophy, a doctrine, or a religious system. It centers on Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Characteristics of the Gospel Message:
- It centers on a person - Jesus Christ - Superiority/preeminence of Jesus Christ.
- Colossians 1:18 He is also the head of the body, which is the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so He Himself might have first place in everything.
- Colossians 3:11 the Messiah is all and in all.
- It is the Word of Truth
- Colossians 1:5 based on the hope laid up for you in heaven. Some time ago, you heard about this hope through the word of truth, the gospel.
- John 17:17 Sanctify them by the truth. Your word is truth.
- John 14:6 Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
"Everybody has faith in something. But faith is only as good as the object in which a person puts his trust. A true Christian believer has faith in Jesus Christ, and that faith is based on the Word of truth; any other kind of faith is but superstition- it cannot save." Warren Wiersbe
- It is the message of God's grace
- Colossians 1:6 Just as it is bearing fruit and spreading all over the world, so it has been doing among you from the day you heard it and came to know the grace of God in truth. Grace is God's favor shown to undeserving sinners. The gospel is good news because of grace: God is willing and able to save all who will trust Jesus Christ.
- Titus 2:11-12 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people. It trains us to renounce ungodly living and worldly passions to live sensible, honest, and godly lives in the present age.
For the whole world, - Colossians 1:6, Just as it is bearing fruit and spreading worldwide.
The gospel represents the Word of Truth, and we can confidently rely on it for our souls. Everyone who hears the message of the gospel should strive to produce its fruit, obey its teachings, and shape their beliefs and lives according to its principles.
